Choose these install instructions if you want to install the server components without installing the sample site.
Note: Use this install method if you are installing e-Business schema for the first time to support a new implementation. See "Updating an Existing e-Business Site" on page 49 if you want to upgrade your existing site to e-Business 5.5.2.
Follow these steps to install Aptify e-Business 5.5.2 server components without installing the sample site:

  1. Using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, back up your APTIFY database before continuing.
  2. Log in to the database server that hosts the Aptify database.
  • If using Windows Integrated Security (i.e., using a trusted user based on Windows credentials) when installing the E-business site, you must be currently logged in as a trusted user with system administrative privileges.
  1. Download the APTIFY_552_eBiz_FULLSETUP installation ZIP file to a folder on the computer and unzip its contents.
  • Run the installation program locally on the computer; do not run it over the -network.
  1. Browse to the location of the installation files and right-click on the Setup application (look for the Setup file with the Aptify "A" icon). Select Run as Administrator to launch the installation program.
  • The Run as Administrator option bypasses the server's User Access Control (UAC) for the duration of the installation.
  1. When prompted, enter login information for the database server, specifying an account with system administrator privileges (such as sa).
  • If you are logging in as a trusted user based on Windows credentials, select Use Windows Integrated -Security.
  • If you are logging in as an untrusted user using SQL server security, select -Specify a User Name and Password.
  1. Click OK to continue.
  2. Review the information on the Welcome screen and click Next to continue. Note: The database server must have Aptify 5.5.1 or later installed prior to installing e-Business 5.5.2. The installer will check the database's version, and you will be unable to proceed with the installation unless Aptify meets this requirement. These instructions assume you are installing on a system running Aptify 5.5.2 or later. If running on Aptify 5.5.1, contact Aptify Support for additional instructions.
  3. Review the set of requirements to install e-Business. If your environment does not meet one or more of the specified requirements, click Cancel to abort the installation. -Otherwise, click Next to continue.
  • See "e-Business Server Requirements" on page 3 and "e-Business Server User Account" on page 11 for more information on the e-Business requirements.
  1. The installer verifies that the objects in the setup program's Bin folder matches the objects in your Aptify system, which is one requirement to ensure a successful installation. If the installer detects that there is an object mismatch, it automatically synchronizes its Bin folder with the objects from your Aptify database. In that case, you will see a dialog that displays the progress of the synchronization process. When prompted, close the setup program and relaunch it to start over using the updated objects.
  • However, in some cases, objects may already be in use by the installer so they cannot be overwritten. If this occurs, you will see a message like the one shown below: e-Business Setup Validation

Perform the following steps if the above dialog box displays:

  1. Review the contents of the dialog box and write down the name and version number of any files you need to update. Then, click OK and close all relevant dialog boxes and exist from the setup program.
  2. On a computer that hosts your Aptify Desktop client, navigate to the Program Files > Aptify 5.0 folder on the C: drive.
  3. Locate the files identified in the dialog box in C:\Program Files\Aptify 5.0 and confirm that the version number of the files in the Program Files folder matches what was displayed in the dialog.
  4. Copy these versions of the files from C:\Program Files\Aptify 5.0 to two folders in the Aptify e-Business 5.5.2 Setup program: Bin and Bin\Bootfiles.
  5. Restart the setup program and continue until the installer displays the IIS Installation Details screen.
  6. Click Next to continue.
  • Nothing needs to be specified on the Gather Info page since you are only installing the server components.
  1. Review the Server Options screen and choose one of the following options:
  • To install the e-Business Server Components but not the sample data, select the Install Server Components option.
  • This option installs the e-Business entities on your database server.
  • While you can run the installer multiple times to create multiple e-Business sites that communicate with the same database server, you should only install the e-Business entities on your database server once.
  • If you want to install the e-Business server components and sample data, select the Install Server Components and Install Sample Data options and enter a location on the SQL Server to which your user account has read/write access. (This is the Windows domain account you have used to log into the Web server.)
  • You must enter the location's path in the UNC (Universal Naming -Convention) format. This location should be a shared drive or folder on the server.
  • During installation, the installer copies a database backup file that contains the sample data to the location you specify on the server. Therefore, the account currently logged into the Web server must have read/write access to that location on the database server. The account that runs the SQL Server process on the database server also needs to have read access to backup drop directory. Note: Select the Install sample data option only if you installed the sample CRM data on the Aptify server during initial installation since there are dependencies between the e-Business sample data and the CRM sample data. Also, for best results when using sample data, you should run the e-Business installation -immediately after installing the Aptify server and the CRM sample data.
  • If installing the sample data, specify the URL for your e-Business site in the e-Business URL field. The system uses this URL within the sample Web Articles RSS Feeds record. Select Server Options
  1. Click Next to continue.
  2. Click Finish to begin the e-Business installation.
  3. Click OK when prompted that the installation is complete.
