Step Two: Installing Aptify Framework Web Services
After verifying the prerequisites, install the Framework Web Service and Core Framework Components. These are the core web services required to support POS. Follow the steps below to complete the installation:
- For a new installation, identify where you want to install the SOA Framework Web Services in the web server's Microsoft IIS path. Also, if you want to install the Framework Web Services to a web site other than Default Web Site, set up that Web Site in IIS before continuing to Step 2.
- Copy the Aptify_2.0_POS.zip file to the web server.
- Run an unzip utility to extract the setup program files from the ZIP file.
Unzipped Aptify_2.0_POS folder will include SOA_Setup folder, POS_Setup folder, Socket Mobile Quick Start Guide, Aptify POS_2.0 Implementation Guide, and Aptify POS 2.0 - User Guide.
 - Open the SOA_Setup folder and make sure that all the files are not read only.Â
- Right-click the Aptify Framework Service's Setup.exe file and select Runas an administrator.
- Enter the user credentials (this user must have the appropriate administrative privileges to create, edit and update entities) and click OK.
- After a successful login, a welcome screen appears and displays all the prerequisites required to continue the setup. Verify the required prerequisites are met and click Next.
- Verify the Installation Options as shown in the image below, and click Next to continue.
- The Install Web Service option installs IIS configurations for the Web Service, and the Install Server Components option installs all the server components related to the Aptify Ratings service and the Aptify Security token service.
- Clear these options if you already have these components installed on the server.
Review the required web services details to complete the service configuration:
Installation Mode: Select New Installation or Update Installation depending on your requirements.
Note
For an update installation, stop the POS and Framework application pool from the IIS Manager before continuing with the installation. Also ensure that the POS and Framework website folders are not Read Only.
Website Location: Enter the service install location (c:\inetpub\wwwroot\SOA). For new installations, enter the path of the location that you want to use. Entered folder should not exist before; SOA setup will create this folder at the last step. For upgrades, enter the path for the existing SOA web service installation.
User Name: Enter the trusted user credentials preferably with developer or admin license (i.e., windows domain user account, like Aptify\UserName). This user should have the permission to create and edit orders and should be able access products, persons and Users data. This User will be used to run the IIS app pool, so please make sure that the password is updated on the app pool whenever the password is changed for the User.
Password: Enter the trusted user's password.
Website Type: Select the website type used by the service (i.e., HTTP or HTTPS). This field is disabled for the Update Installation process.
ÂNote
Aptify recommends using HTTPS to enable SSL for secure transfer of sensitive data like credit card information. Failure to use HTTPS is a major data security risk and PCI violation, and can put your organization and merchant status in jeopardy.
Â
Website: Select the name of the IIS website designated for hosting the web services. The list will contain all the websites listed in your IIS Manager. By default, only Default Website appears in the IIS Manager. If you want to create a new website, do so manually from the IIS Manager first before running the setup program. This field is disabled for the Update Installation process.
Application Pool: Enter the application pool name to be used for the service in IIS. For example, AptifyServiceFramework or use the same name as that of your website. This field is disabled for the Update Installation process.Â
Service Route Name: Enter the route name used by the service. Please enter service if you are not sure what to enter.
Click Finish on the confirmation screen to complete the Aptify Framework Services Setup.
