About the View Types Form

This service stores information about the types of views that a user can create in Aptify. In a standard Aptify installation, there are five view types: List Views, Calendars, Charts, Pivot Grid, and Pivot Tables.

Attachments Tab

The Attachments tab lists any files relevant to the View Types record.

Filters Tab

The check boxes on this tab determine what filter options are available for views of this type.

Show Filters (Required)

When selected, the Filters tab appears in the View dialog. When cleared, the Filters tab does not appear and users cannot create filters for views of this type.

Show Topic Code Filters (Required)

When selected, a user can create a filter based on the standard Topic Code filter relationship for views of this type. See Disabling Standard Filter Relationships for details. Note that this option is only applicable if the Show Filters option is selected.

Show Record History Filters (Required)

When selected, a user can create a filter based on the standard Record History filter relationship for views of this type. See Disabling Standard Filter Relationships for details. Note that this option is only applicable if the Show Filters option is selected.

Show List Filters (Required)

When selected, a user can create a filter based on the standard Lists filter relationship for views of this type. See Disabling Standard Filter Relationships for details. Note that this option is only applicable if the Show Filters option is selected.

General Tab

Name (Required)

The name of the view type.

Description

A description of the view type.

Scope (Required)

The availability of the view type. When set to Global, users can create views of this type for all entities. When set to Entity, users can only create views of this type for entities that have an Entity View Types record for this view type. See About the Entity View Types Form for more information.

Icon

The icon that appears for this view type in Aptify. This field specifies a location in the Object Repository.

Show Fields (Required)

When selected, the Fields tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Show Formatting (Required)

When selected, the Formatting tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Allow Field Level Formatting (Required)

When selected, the Field Level Formatting sub-tab appears under the Formatting tab on the View Properties dialog for view of this type. Note that this option is only applicable if Show Formatting is selected.

Show Sorting (Required)

When selected, the Sorting tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Show Hierarchy (Required)

When selected, the Hierarchy tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Show Paging (Required)

When selected, the Paging tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Show Auto Refresh (Required)

When selected, the Auto Refresh tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Show Schedule (Required)

When selected, the Schedule tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Show Advanced SQL (Required)

When selected, the Advanced SQL tab appears on the View Properties dialog for view of this type.

Allow Temporary Views (Required)

When selected, users can create temporary views of this type. A Dashboard entity list views that are constructed using a custom SQL statement rather than an existing system view.
A temporary view is a view that is constructed outside of the standard Views entity. This includes:

  • Views that appear under a related service tab of form. One example is the Templates tab on the Form Template Parts form that displays the templates to which the part applies.
  • Dashboard entity list views that are constructed using a custom SQL statement rather than an existing system view.

Extender Entity

This field specifies an associated entity that stores additional details for views of this type beyond what is stored in a Views record. For example, the Chart Views entity is the extender entity for chart views.

View Plug In Object

The object in the Object Repository related to this view type.

View Plug In Class (Required)

The class within the View Plug In Object that implements this view type.

View Plug In Assembly

View Plug In Assembly is the assembly name for the View Plug In object.

View Properties Object

The object in the Object Repository responsible for displaying the properties fields for this view type within the view dialog.

View Properties Class

The class within the View Properties Object that adds a tab specific to this view type to the view dialog.

View Properties Assembly

The assembly name for the View Properties object.

Web View Plug In Object

The object in the Object Repository related to the display of view of this type on a Web browser.

Web View Plug In Class

The class within the Web View Plug In Object that implements this view type for Web browsers.

Web View Plug In Assembly

The assembly name for the Web View Plug In object that implements this view type for Web browsers.

Web View Properties Object

The class within the View Properties Object that adds a tab specific to this view type to the view dialog displayed via a Web browser.

Web View Properties Class

The class within the Web View Properties Object that adds a tab specific to this view type to the view dialog displayed via a Web browser.

Web View Properties Assembly

The name of the assembly for the Web View Properties object that adds a tab specific to this view type to the view dialog displayed via a Web browser.
