Step 1: Create KPIs
The first step in configuring the CES application is to create records for the KPIs you have decided to use to measure member engagement for your organization. If you have not determined the KPIs your organization will use to measure member engagement, see Preparing for CES.
Perform the following steps to create KPIs:
- Open a new Key Performance Indicator record by clicking the New KPI button on the CES Dashboard.
- In the Name field, enter the name of your KPI
- In the Description field, enter the description for this KPI.
- In the Status field, ensure that the value in the field is Active.
- Click the name of the KPI Unit Type field and perform the following steps in the New KPI Unit Types Record:
In the Name field, enter a character to represent the type of unit that is measured for the KPI.
Note
A KPI that measures a numeric value, like number of events attended, could be specified using "#". A KPI that measures monetary values, like revenue generated, could be specified using "$" or another symbol that identified a currency type.
- In the Description field, enter a description of the record type.
- Save and close this record.
- In the Measurement Type field, ensure that the value in the field is Formula.
- Click the name of the KPI Formula field and perform the following steps in the New KPI Formulas Record:
- In the Name field, enter the name of your KPI.
- In the Description field, enter a description of the KPI formula.
- In the Status field, ensure that the value in the field is Active.
- In the Owner field, identify the employee who will own this record.
In the Type field, ensure that the value in the field is DBObject, if you are creating a KPI based on one of the three database objects provided for CES in this release.
Note
If you are creating a KPI based on a custom plug-in, select Plugin for this field.
- If the value in Type is DBObject, enter the appropriate database object name for this KPI in the DB Object Name field. The three database objects provided for CES in this release are as follows:
- spGetAvgRevenueToOrgLast2Years
- spGetTotalCommitteesServedLast3Years
- spGetTotalEventsAttendedLast3Years
Â
- If the value in Type is Plugin, perform the following steps.
- In the Formula Object field, enter the name of the plug-in used for this formula.
- In the Formula Assembly field, enter the name of the assembly for this formula.
- In the Formula Class field, enter the name of the class for this formula.
Â
- If you want the database object to create the KPI results, instead of having the results calculated by the CES plan, enable the Whether DBObject Creates KPI Result? option.
In the Batch Size field, enter the number of records that will be processed together when the CES plan is run. Entering '0' in this field will result in all records being processed in one batch.
Note
Aptify recommends using a batch size between 100 and 400 for the best performance.
- Save and close this record.Â
- Save and close the New Key Performance Indicators Record.
- Repeat steps 1 through 8 for each KPI that you are going to measure in CES.
- Proceed to Step 2: Create a CES Plan.
