Configuring Reporting in the Aptify Web Interface

Once the Aptify web site is installed, the following steps are needed to configure the report functionality for the Aptify web interface, broken down by release in the table given below:

Aptify 5.5.4 and up
  1. Create a System DSN to the Aptify Database from the Web Server: which is created through the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    1. Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    2. Click Add on the System DSN tab.
    3. Select SQL Server and Finish.
    4. Enter a Name and select the database server from the Server drop-down.
    5. Click Next and select the SQL Server Authenticationusing Login ID option. Or choose the NT Authentication option if your user has the appropriate credentials on the database server.
    6. Select the Connect to SQL Server to obtain... option and enter an administrative user name and password.
    7. Complete the rest of the wizard with default options and Finish to create the DSN.
       
  2. Setup checks for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of SAP Crystal Reports: During the Aptify 5.5.3 web site installation, the setup program performs a check for the presence of both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Crystal Reports. If one or more is not present, the setup program installs the missing software.
  3. After installation, verify that the correct versions of Crystal Reports have been installed. See Verifying the Installed Version of Crystal Reports for more information.
  4. If your environment uses SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports, ensure that the procedures in Setting Up Aptify to Use SQL Server Reporting Services are performed.
Aptify 5.5.3
  1. Create a System DSN to the Aptify Database from the Web Server: which is created through the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    1. Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    2. Click Add on the System DSN tab.
    3. Select SQL Server and Finish.
    4. Enter a Name and select the database server from the Server drop-down.
    5. Click Next and select the SQL Server Authenticationusing Login ID option. Or choose the NT Authentication option if your user has the appropriate credentials on the database server.
    6. Select the Connect to SQL Server to obtain... option and enter an administrative user name and password.
    7. Complete the rest of the wizard with default options and Finish to create the DSN.
       
  2. Aptify 5.5.1
  1. Create a System DSN to the Aptify Database from the Web Server: which is created through the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    1. Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
    2. Click Add on the System DSN tab.
    3. Select SQL Server and Finish.
    4. Enter a Name and select the database server from the Server drop-down.
    5. Click Next and select the SQL Server Authenticationusing Login ID option. Or choose the NT Authentication option if your user has the appropriate credentials on the database server.
    6. Select the Connect to SQL Server to obtain... option and enter an administrative user name and password.
    7. Complete the rest of the wizard with default options and Finish to create the DSN.
       
  2. Add Active Users to the IIS_USR Group on the Web Server: During the Aptify 5.5.1 web site installation, if you are logged into the web server with a domain user who has access the database server, any active users are added to the IIS_USR group automatically. If not, you will need to add the users manually and for any new users.

Troubleshooting Reports

If reports fail to load through the browser, check the following table:

Aptify 5.5.2
  1. Install the Crystal Report Runtime: Crystal Reports Runtime should be installed during the Aptify installation. If it does not install, you can install it manually from the Data > OtherSetups directory in the Aptify setup. Select and install either the 32 or 64-bit version, depending on your server.

  2. Move the asp_client Folder: When Crystal Reports Runtime is installed, it is typically installed under the Default Website. If you have installed Aptify outside the Default Website, you may need to move the folder so that it resides in the same site.
Aptify 5.5.1
  1. Install the Crystal Report Runtime: Crystal Reports Runtime should be installed during the Aptify installation. If it does not install, you can install it manually from the Data > OtherSetups directory in the Aptify setup. Select and install either the 32 or 64-bit version, depending on your server.

  2. Move the asp_client Folder: When Crystal Reports Runtime is installed, it is typically installed under the Default Website. If you have installed Aptify outside the Default Website, you may need to move the folder so that it resides in the same site.
