The first client-facing version of the Aptify Configuration Migration (CM) Tool will be released soon (Q2 2016). Contact Aptify Technical Support for updates.

The purpose of this topic is to describes using the Metadata tab on the Configuration Management (CM) Tool Packer form to manage the metadata to be added or removed from a pack.

Adding metadata

    1. To add metadata for an entity to the packing list, in the left column, find the desired entity by using the Search box or by scrolling through the find the appropriate metadata.
    2. Select the entity you want to include in your pack.
      • Once an entity is selected, the right-column displays the metadata records included in that entity.
    3. Select the check boxes for the desired metadata records in the right-column. The selected metadata records are added to the Tree View.
      • The Search fields in each part can be used to find a specific metadata category or metadata record, respectively.
      • When you add metadata its children are automatically added.

Removing metadata

    • To remove metadata from the packing list, find the desired metadata category in the grid in the first part, and do the following:
      • To remove the metadata records for an entire metadata category from the packing list, clear the check box for this metadata category in the grid in the first part. All the metadata records are removed and its related record list tab is removed from the second part.
      • To remove a metadata record from the packing list, clear the check box for this metadata record in the second part.
    • The Search fields in each part can be used to find a specific metadata category or metadata record, respectively.
    • Whenever a user removes any metadata its children are automatically removed.
    • When metadata is removed, it's linking with other entities or metadata is also removed.

Selecting all listed metadata records

    • Only the metadata records list in the second part has a select all check box.
    • Selecting this check box in one of the tabs selects all of the metadata records listed in that tab.
    • The metadata records grid is disabled and cannot be used to perform any additional actions until the addition of all of the records is completed.
    • If a user searches for an entity, selects this check box, and performs another search before the entities grid is enabled, the search functions properly but the entities grid is disabled until the process is completed.
    • If this check box is cleared, the metadata records grid is disabled until the removal of all of the records is completed.
    • Use of the select all option is recommended only for filtered data.
  • No labels
