Dashboard areas are created from the Layout tab of the Dashboard Options form. Dashboard areas may be added to an already existing dashboard or to a new dashboard.

1. Click the the Layout tab  tab on the Dashboard Options dialog.
   
   • If modifying an existing dashboard, load the dashboard and click the Options... link to open the Dashboard Options dialog.
   • You may want to maximize the Dashboard Options dialog so that it fills the entire screen.

2. Click the the Add Area link link, located in the top-right corner of the Layout tab, to open a New Dashboard Area form.Adding a New Area

2. Enter a dashboard area name in the the Name field field.
3. Enter a description of the dashboard area in the the Description field field, if desired.
4. Select a a Display Style, which describes how the various dashboard parts will display inside the area. There are four display style options:
   
   • Top-Bottom:

2. By default, the background color for the area is light gray. To specify a different color, click the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the the Back Color field  field to open a color selection dialog. See "Selecting Dashboard Colors" on page 488.New Area's General Tab Image Removed.

3. Set the position of the area on the the Position tab tab. The position of the area is determined by specifying parameters for the top and left position of the dashboard area. See "Setting the Dashboard Area Position" on page 447.
4. Set the size of the area on the the Size tab tab. The size of the area is determined by specifying parameters for the width and height of the dashboard area. See "Setting the Dashboard Area Size" on page 448 below.
5. Click Click OK twice  twice to save. The new area will appear on the dashboard.
