This topic describes some general features of the Framework application and their functionality, including areas that are not fully supported in this release.

Adding and Removing Applications and Services

Applications or services available to a user in the Aptify Desktop client can also be used in Aptify. In addition, you can add or remove Applications or Services through the Settings option. See the Aptify Feature Guide for more details.

Using Attachments in Aptify

Aptify includes support for adding and removing attachments. The attachment function is available via the toolbar, located in the center of a record. The first figure below illustrates how to access the Attachments tab. The second is an example of a record with an attachment.

Supported and Unsupported Attachment Functions

In this release, only adding and deleting an attachment is supported, and the delete function is only available to those users who have the appropriate permissions. In addition, the following advanced attachment features are not available in this version:

  • Attachment Category Support: Attachments that are added to categories other than the default will not display, as this release does not include support for Attachment Categories.
  • Attachment Count: Attachment Count is not supported in this release.
  • Attachment Options: Attachment Options are not displayed or supported in this release.
  • Deleting Multiple Attachments: Attachments can be deleted individually, however this release does not support deleting multiple attachments in a single action.
  • Specific Attachment Permissions Not Supported: In this release, attachment permissions are determined by the user's permission settings for the entity, not at the attachment or attachment category level.
  • Attachments Exceeding Supported File Size: In this release, when an attachment is added that exceeds the file size limit, the file does not upload successfully. However no dialog is displayed.
  • Attachments Exceeding Support Name Length: In this release, if you attempt to add an attachment to a record with long name over 180 characters in length , the file will not upload successfully, and no dialog is displayed.
  • Adding Attachments on a Sub-Type: Adding Attachments to a sub-type record is not supported in this release.
  • Viewing Images: In the Aptify Desktop client, the Pictures tab allows users to add and view images to a Persons record (this control can be added to other forms but appears on the Persons record by default). In addition, any images added to the record also appear on the Attachments tab. In the Aptify web interface, users can view images individually on the Pictures tab, however any images must be added via the Attachments tab. This version does not include support for adding or navigating images on the Pictures tab.

Comments

The Comments functionality in Aptify works similarly to the existing function in the Aptify Desktop client. All records in Aptify include a Comments tab available from the expanded drop-down menu (shown below), allowing users to add comments to records as needed.

Comments Tab

One difference to the Comments functionality in the Aptify Web interface is a modification to the HTML feature. In the Aptify Desktop client this function is available as a separate tab. In Aptify, this function includes a View HTML button on the main toolbar of the Comments window to display the HTML code for the comment text.

View HTML Button

Selecting the View HTML button enables users to display the contents of the Comments tab in an HTML format, allowing for editing in a separate window.

Example View HTML Window

Note:

For comments that do not contain edited HTML, the View HTML window will not contain any tags or markers.

Wizards

The following are limitations or known issues related to wizards in this version.

  • Code-Based Wizards: Are not supported in this release.
  • Show Step List: The Show Step List option, which is used to include a step list on its left side that indicates each step in the wizard, is not supported in this version.
  • Wizards Can Be Run From Anywhere: There are certain cases when running a wizard from a particular area of the system is not appropriate. For example, running a wizard that requires a set of records from the entity browser. This is controlled by the Run From option on Wizards records. However, in this release, the option is not supported through the web interface and wizards can be accessed from all options in Aptify (including Global search), no matter the options selected.
  • Run Prompted View: You must select one or more records. If your view has multiple pages, selecting all records on the first page will only run the wizard against the records on the first page. You have to run the wizard against the first page, then navigate to the following pages, select all records and run the wizard again.
