CM Tool Beta
This is the Beta version of the Aptify Configuration Migration (CM) Tool. If you have any questions or problems using the tool please contact Aptify Technical Support. Your feedback is appreciated!
On the Entities tab, you can select the entities you want to pack along with all related metadata (such as dependent sub-type entities, database objects, form templates, etc.) as desired. The entities are listed in a grid that provides the ability to include or exclude related objects and metadata for each entity in the packing action. Selected entities are added underneath the Entities folder in the Tree View section.
The purpose of this topic is to describe how to use the Entities tab on the Configuration Migration (CM) Tool Packer interface to add and remove entities and their related metadata to the packing list. This topic include the following sub-topics:
- Adding an Entity
- Removing an Entity
- Selecting All Listed Entities
- Adding Related Objects and Metadata for an Entity
- Removing Related Objects and Metadata for an Entity
The Configuration Management (CM) Tool Packer form Entities tab lists the entities in the source Aptify database that support packing. The listed entities are mostly top-level entities. If a desired entity is not present in the entity grid, an Aptify administrator must enable the SupportPacking attribute for the desired entity. Once that update is complete, the CM Tool must be restarted to make the desired entity eligible for packing.
Adding an Entity
To add an entity to the packing list, find the desired entity and select the check box in the ID column for that entity.
- The specified entity is added to the Tree View.
- The Search field can be used to find a specific entity.
- When an entity is added to the packing list, the metadata related to that entity (depending on the packing options selected) is also added.
Removing an Entity
To remove an entity from the packing list, find the desired entity and clear the check box in the ID column for that entity.
- The specified entity is removed from the Tree View.
- The Search field can be used to find a specific entity.
- When an entity is removed from the packing list, the metadata related to that entity (depending on the packing options selected) is also removed.
Selecting All Listed Entities
To select all of the entities in the grid, select the check box (Select All) in the upper left corner of the grid.
- All of the entities are added to the Tree View.
- The entities grid is disabled and cannot be used to perform any additional actions until the addition of all of the entities is completed.
- If a user searches for an entity, selects this check box, and performs another search before the entities grid is enabled, the search functions properly but the entities grid is disabled until the process is completed.
- If this check box is cleared, the entities grid is disabled until the removal of all of the entities is completed.
Adding Related Objects and Metadata for an Entity
When an entity is added to the packing list, related metadata is added to the Tree View, based on the packing options selected. To add related objects and metadata, select the check boxes in the columns for the desired metadata categories.
Managing Default Packing Options
By default, when the CM Tool is installed, the Pack Culture Strings and Pack SubTypes options are checked by default. You can specify which options you want to select by default from the Settings option in the top-left corner of the Packer interface. Once an option is checked or unchecked, the option will be included (or excluded) when selecting an entity during the current session and future session.
- See CM Tool Pack Interface for a full list of option.
Note Concerning Making Changes After Selecting an Entity: The interface needs to refresh when making changes to the select packing defaults. If you have already selected an entity and then change the default option, your selections will not be saved.
Removing Related Objects and Metadata for an Entity
To remove related objects and metadata, clear the check boxes from the appropriate packing option columns for that entity.
- After removing all linked entities, those entities are cleared in the View Tree.
- While removing all linked entities, all related linking to metadata is also removed. If the that metadata does not contain any linking, it will be removed automatically.
