Managing Packing on the Entities Tab

The purpose of this topic is to describe methods of using the Entities tab on the Configuration Management (CM) Tool Packer form to manage the entities and metadata to be added or removed from the packing list

• Adding an entity
  • To add an entity to the packing list, find the desired entity and select the check box in the ID column for that entity. The specified entity is added to the Tree View.
  • The Search field can be used to find a specific entity.
  • When an entity is added to the packing list, the metadata related to that entity is also added.
     
• Removing an entity
  • To remove an entity from the packing list, find the desired entity and clear the check box in the ID column for that entity. The specified entity is removed from the Tree View.
  • The Search field can be used to find a specific entity.
  • When an entity is removed from the packing list, the metadata related to that entity is also removed.
     
• Selecting all listed entities
  • To select all of the listed entities, select the check box in the upper left corner of the screen. All of the entities are added to the Tree View.
  • The entities grid is disabled and cannot be used to perform any additional actions until the addition of all of the entities is completed.
  • If a user searches for an entity, selects this check box, and performs another search before the entities grid is enabled, the search functions properly but the entities grid is disabled until the process is completed.
  • If this check box is cleared, the entities grid is disabled until the removal of all of the entities is completed.
     
• Adding the related objects of an entity
  • When an entity is added to the packing list, by default all related metadata is added to the Tree View, except for its linked and dependent entities.
  • To add the linked or dependent entities, select the check boxes in the Pack Linked Entities or Pack Dependent Entities columns for that entity.
  • When the linked entities are added to the packing list, those entities are added in the View Tree. In addition, all of the related metadata is added to the packing list.
     
• Removing the related objects of an entity
  • To remove linked or dependent entities, clear the check boxes in the Pack Linked Entities or Pack Dependent Entities columns for that entity.
  • After removing all linked entities, those entities are cleared in the View Tree.
  • While removing all linked entities, all related linking to metadata is also removed. If the that metadata does not contain any linking, it will be removed automatically.
     
• Working with entity metadata
  • To add related metadata to the packing list, select the check boxes in the columns for the desired metadata categories. Metadata categories can be selected in the following columns:
    • Pack Dependent DB Objects
    • Pack SubTypes
    • Pack Users
    • Pack User Groups
    • Pack Form Templates
    • Pack Process Flows
    • Pack Applications
    • Pack Repository Objects
