Aptify includes out-of-the-box integration with the Melissa Data address verification system to identify and correct addresses entered into the system. Note that when installing Melissa Data, an administrator has the option to install the Melissa Data files on a network server to centralize the location of the files. However, the Melissa Data Address Object software must be installed on every end user computer that will use Melissa Data to verify addresses.

See http://www.melissadata.com for information on Melissa Data.

Aptify recommends the use of the Melissa Data Address Object API to verify address information. See http://www.melissadata.com/addressobject/addressobject.htm for more information on the Melissa Data Adresss Object API.

When installing Melissa Data, you can specify which components you want to install. With Aptify, you only need to select the Standard Data Files component on network servers and only the Address Object component on clients.

Aptify includes two attributes for the Melissa Data Address Verification System to allow organizations to easily configure integration with Melissa Data for their specific system. These attributes appear on the Attributes tab of the Address Verification Systems record for Melissa Data and should be configured by any organization that integrates with Melissa Data. The attributes are described below.

  • DataFilesPath: Specifies the location for the Melissa Data files on either the local computer or on the network. This attributes defaults to the standard Melissa Data installation directory (C:\Program Files\Melissa Data\COM Objects\Data Files) but this should be modified as necessary to point to the appropriate location.
  • LicenseString: Specifies your organization's license key received from Melissa Data. Replace the default value ([ENTER LICENSE STRING HERE]) with your organization's specific license key.

Follow these steps to configure the Address Verification System service to use the Melissa Data Address Object API:

  1. Create or open a view of the Address Verification Systems service.
    • The Address Verification Systems service is located under the Aptify Framework Administration application.

  2. Confirm that Melissa Data has a Rank of 3 and the Accumail record has a Rank of 2.
    • These are the default settings. With these settings, the system uses Melissa Data for address verification rather than Accumail.

  3. Configure the Melissa Data attributes on the Attributes tab (the attributes are described above).

  4. Save and close the record.
