About the Wizard-Generated Contact Log and Tasks Records
The New Case wizard automatically creates corresponding Contact Log and Tasks records when it creates a new Cases record. This topic describes how the wizard creates these records.
Contact Log Record
The Contact Log record generated by the New Case wizard has the following characteristics:
- Date:Â Populates this field with the current date.
- Description:Â Uses the description entered by the user in Step 1 of the wizard.
- Type: Sets to the Contact Log Types record with an ID of 1 (Phone in the Aptify sample data).
- Category: Sets to the Contact Log Categories record with an ID of 2 (Customer Support in the Aptify sample data).
- Links:Â Links this Contact Log record to the Cases record generated by the wizard.
All other fields use their default value as specified in the Contact Log service.
Tasks Record
The Tasks record generated by the New Case wizard has the following characteristics:
- Name:Â Populates this field with the Title from the new case.
- Type: Sets to the Task Types record with an ID of 1 (General in the Aptify sample data).
- Status: Sets to a value of Not Started.
- Date Assigned:Â Populates this field with the current date.
- Description:Â Uses the description entered by the user in Step 1 of the wizard.
- Assigned By: Sets to the employee specified as the case's Manager in the wizard.
- Assigned To: Sets to the case's Primary Assignee specified in the wizard.
- Links:Â Links this Tasks record to the Cases record generated by the wizard.
All other fields use their default value as specified in the Tasks service.
