Using the Filter Rules Service
Aptify includes a generic filtering interface that evaluates record data against a defined set of criteria that references information from multiple records in Aptify. Several business applications in Aptify utilize this capability, including:
- Calculating Product Prices: See Creating Product Filter Rules for implementation details.
- Calculating Sales Tax on Products: See Specifying Order Lines Filter Rules for implementation details.
- Calculating Sales Tax on Shipping: See Specifying Order Shipments Filter Rules for more details.
- Calculating Shipping Costs: See Creating Shipment Type Groupings for more details.
- Setting Scope for Courses (requires the Education Management add-on): See Using the Scope Tab in Courses for more details.
- Setting Scope for Curriculums (requires the Education Management add-on): See Specifying Scope for a Curriculum for more details.
- Product Prerequisites: See Specifying Product Prerequisites for more details.
For product prices, an organization can create a filter rule to define the set of requirements that a customer must meet in order to receive the corresponding price. Likewise, for complicated Sales Tax scenarios, an organization can construct filter rules that apply a particular sales tax rate only under certain conditions.
In all of the cases described above, users can construct filter rules that evaluate field values from a wide variety of related entities, including Orders, Order Lines, Persons, and Products.
This topic describes the Filter Rules infrastructure and provides an overview of how filter rules can be expanded to other applications. See the sub-topics below for more information:
