About the Client Access Licenses

Aptify uses three types of Client Access Licenses:

EndUser Licenses

This license provides standard users with access to the system. It includes the ability to log in to both the Aptify Desktop client and the Aptify web interface. An End User can perform all of the standard functions of a user in Aptify, including the ability to:

  • View dashboards and create personal dashboard with minor modifications.
  • View forms and create personal form template tab changes (not changing form layout, just tab selection and order).
  • Create/Read/Update/Delete records in all end user entities (excludes those services defined as Administrator or Developer, see below).
  • Create and run views and share those views with other users. This includes the ability to execute all view "action" capabilities, such as bulk messaging, record merging, and Export to Excel.
  • Run existing reports through the Report Wizard.
  • Setup scheduled bulk e-mails and scheduled views for automatic distribution of content.

Note

The ability to use the features listed above are subject to the permissions granted to the user by the Aptify system administrator. Also, a user with an EndUser license cannot perform Administrator or Developer functions, as described later in this topic.

Administrator Licenses

This license provides administrators with access to the system. It provides the same rights as the EndUser license but Administrators can also access the administrative aspects of the system. However, unlike a Developer, an Administrator does not have full access to all areas of Aptify. The primary difference between an Administrator license and a Developer license is that while Administrators can modify and manage the Aptify infrastructure, only Developers can create new configurations, such as new Entities, Process Flows, and metadata wizards. An Administrator can:

  • Install the Database Server, Application Server, E-Business Server, Web Server, and Desktop Application components.
  • Run Aptify upgrade tools such as service packs, hot fixes, and the major version upgrade toolset.
  • Create new Crystal Reports and incorporate them into the Aptify platform for use by an end user.
  • View and modify existing Entities records within the Aptify platform. Administrators may not create new Entities records as that function is reserved for Developers as described below.
  • Create, view, and modify Applications records.
  • Create, view, and modify application/entity relationships.
  • Create, view, and modify Application User security permissions.
  • Administer dashboards for multiple users and groups.
  • View and modify form templates for multiple users and groups.
    • This includes the ability to modify existing forms, however, it does not include the ability to create entirely new form templates or to implement Aptify Form Template Layout sub-classes which add new behavior to the user interface. These actions require a Developer license.

  • View and modify existing generic metadata wizards. Administrators may not create new Wizards records as that function is reserved for Developers as described below.
  • View and modify existing Process Flows. Administrators may not create new Process Flows records as that function is reserved for Developers as described below.
  • Create, view, and modify Groups and Users.
  • Create, view, and modify Scheduled Tasks.
  • Create, view, and modify Views and View Categories for themselves and for other users.
  • Create, view, and modify Security Keys.
  • Execute Archive Runs.
  • Add, update, and delete items from the Aptify Object Repository.

Developer Licenses

This license provides developers with access to the system. It provides the same rights as the Administrator license but also allows the Developer to add design and deploy new configurations to Aptify. A Developer has full access to the Aptify system. A Developer can:

  • Create new Entities.
  • Create new Process Flows.
  • Create DLLs or other compiled objects in .NET using Aptify SDK/API.
  • Create new Form Templates.
  • Create new Form Template Layout Sub-Classes.
  • Work with e-Business ASP.NET Code-behind.
  • Create and modify code-based wizards.
  • Create new generic metadata wizards.
