Tracking Opportunity Partners

If an organization is working with one or more partners to secure this deal, information about those partners can be stored on the Opportunities record's Partners tab. Follow these steps to add information about a particular partner:

  1. Open the Opportunities record if one is not already open.
  2. Select the Partners tab.
  3. Click the New icon in the toolbar to open a new Partners record.
  4. Specify the partner name in the Partner field. This field links to the Companies service.
  5. Specify the partner contact in the Contact field. This field links to the Persons service.
  6. If the organization has negotiated a referral fee with the partner, specify the Referral Fee % to track the percentage to be received by the organization from the partner if the opportunity is won.
  7. Select the partner's current Status from the drop-down list. Standard options include Pending (negotiations underway with partner), Registered (partner and organization have reached an agreement), and Cancelled (negotiations with potential partner started but then cancelled).
  8. Specify the Primary Role for the Opportunity Partner.

  9. Enter any additional information about this partner on the Comments tab.
  10. If a partner has more than one role in a particular opportunity, you can add additional roles and any optional comments on the Roles tab.

  11. Click OK to save and close the Partners record.
  12. Repeat the above steps as necessary to add additional partners.
    • Alternatively, you can click OK and New in Step 11 to save the current sub-type record and open a new Partners record in one step.

  13. Save the Opportunities record.
