About the Aptify ePayment Software Components

To process electronic payments Aptify developed two basic components: the Authorization Interface and the Capture Interface. In addition to the components, a separate PayPal (formerly VeriSign) module was developed that incorporate the Authorization and Capture interfaces. The Merchant Accounts service was also developed to implement the interfaces.

The software components of the Aptify ePayment system are as follows:

Authorization Interface

This interface allows for connection status checking, authorization, configuration, and messaging related to authorizing electronic transactions. The Aptify PayPal module implements this interface. In addition, additional gateway modules may implement this interface.

Capture Interface

This interface, which applies only to credit card processing models, allows for connection status checking, transfer of funds between credit card banks and processing banks, configuration, and messaging related to authorizing electronic transactions. The Aptify PayPal module implements this interface. In addition, additional gateway modules may implement this interface.

PayPal Module

The Aptify PayPal module provides integration with PayPal's Payflow Pro payment services and is an implementation of the ePayment Authorization and Capture interfaces. Aptify 5.0 integrates with PayPal SDK version 4.3.0.0. Clients must be registered with PayPal and a Aptify Merchant Accounts service record must be properly configured to successfully use this module. See Creating and Configuring Merchant Accounts for more information.

Merchant Accounts Service

The Merchant Accounts service is a key component in the configuration of ePayment. When a Merchant Accounts service record is configured properly, electronic transactions may be successfully processed using the specified gateway provider. Using the Merchant Accounts service, an organization may set up multiple payment types (such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and so on), which are processed through Internet Merchant Accounts, and multiple gateway provider configurations.

It is important to mention that a Aptify Merchant Accounts record is different from an Internet Merchant Account.

  • An Internet Merchant Account must be set up with a financial institution and enables an organization to accept credit cards or purchase cards for payments. The gateway provider selected may have existing partnerships for Internet Merchant Accounts.
  • The Aptify Merchant Accounts record defines:
    • The components necessary for Aptify to contact the gateway provider.
    • The interface parameters required to communicate with the gateway provider once a connection has been established.
    • Other parameters for interpreting the data sent to and from the gateway provider.
    • The payment types that will be submitted for verification.
