About the Chart Views Form

This service stores chart-related parameters for the system's Chart Views. The system creates these records automatically when a user creates a new chart view. See Using Chart Views for information on how to create a Chart View and for information on all of the available Chart View options.

Chart Views Form
Attachments Tab

The Attachments tab lists any files relevant to the Chart Views record.

Color Tab

Color Model (Required)

Specifies the color model used by the chart.

  • Linear Range: The system assigns a color for each item in the chart based on the selected Start and End Colors. The Start and End Colors define a line in 3D color space, and the system selects colors along this line in a linear fashion (from the start to the end).
  • Linear Random: The system picks colors for the chart at random using the range of colors defined by the Start and End Colors specified.
  • Pure Random: The system picks the colors for the chart at random. You do not need to configure the Start/End Colors for this option.
  • Wireframe: No color is used. Chart items are outlined in black. You do not need to configure the Start/End Colors for this option.
  • Custom Linear: This color mode is not supported in this release of Aptify.
  • Custom Random: This color mode is not supported in this release of Aptify.
  • Custom Skin: This color mode is not supported in this release of Aptify.

Color Application Mode (Required)

Specifies how color shading is applied to groupings within a chart. This field is only applicable for charts that have a Primary and Secondary Grouping and only for certain Color Modes (Linear Range and Linear Random). The available options are:

  • Default/None: The color shading does not differ from group to group. For Linear Range, all groups use the same colors.
  • Increasing: The color brightness increases with each group from left to right.
  • Decreasing: The color brightness decreases with each group from left to right.
  • Oscillating: The color palette oscillates between bright and dark. In other words, the colors in the first group are bright, the second group's colors are dark, the third group's colors are bright, the fourth group's colors are dark, etc.
  • Random: The color brightness is selected at random for each group.

Note that the selected Color Application Model applies subtle changes to your chart's color. Depending on the Start and End Colors you select, you may not notice a difference when switching between the various options.

Start Color

Specifies the start color for color selection that occurs within a range of colors. This field is only applicable for certain Color Models. The system converts the color selected by the user to its corresponding ARGB value.

End Color

Specifies the end color for color selection that occurs within a range of colors. This field is only applicable for certain Color Models. The system converts the color selected by the user to its corresponding ARGB value.

Display Tab

Back Color (Required)

Specifies the chart's background color. The system converts the color selected by the user to its corresponding ARGB value.

Show Data Values On Chart (Required)

When delected, each data point's value appears on the chart. This option is unchecked by default.

Show Horizontal(X) Axis (Required)

The Horizontal Axis shows up automatically for all applicable chart types. Clear the applicable option to hide the x-axis.

Show Vertical(Y) Axis (Required)

The Vertical Axis shows up automatically for all applicable chart types. Clear the applicable option to hide the y-axis..

Horizontal Axis Item Label Format String (Required)

This setting specifies the format of the x-axis's label. It is only applicable for chart types that have axes. A user can select from the following options

  • None: The selected axis is not labeled.
  • Item Label: This is the default setting. The particular value of the grouping field that corresponds to a particular column or bar is displayed on the axis. Typically you would use this option for the Horizontal Axis on a Column chart or the Vertical Axis on a Bar chart.
    • For example, if a Form Template Part's column chart is grouped by Type, the Horizontal Axis's Item Labels would read Component, Sub-Template, and Tab Control.

  • Data Value: The column's or bar's value is displayed on the axis. Typically you would use this option for the Vertical Axis on a Column chart or the Horizontal Axis on a Bar chart.
  • Label and Data: The axis displays both the Item Label and the Data Value (the data value appears in parenthesis). Typically you would use this option for the Horizontal Axis on a Column chart or the Vertical Axis on a Bar chart.

Vertical Axis Item Label Format String (Required)

This setting specifies the format of the y-axis's label. It is only applicable for chart types that have axes. A user can select from the following options:

  • None: The selected axis is not labeled.
  • Item Label: This is the default setting. The particular value of the grouping field that corresponds to a particular column or bar is displayed on the axis. Typically you would use this option for the Horizontal Axis on a Column chart or the Vertical Axis on a Bar chart.
    • For example, if a Form Template Part's bar chart is grouped by Type, the Vertical Axis's Item Labels would read Component, Sub-Template, and Tab Control.

Horizontal Axis Major Gridlines (Required)

When selected, the chart displays a gridline for each value on the x-axis.

Horizontal Axis Minor Gridlines (Required)

When selected, the chart displays intermediate gridlines between the value on the x-axis, if applicable.

Vertical Axis Minor Gridlines (Required)

When selected, the chart displays intermediate gridlines between the value on the y-axis, if applicable.

Vertical Axis Major Gridlines (Required)

When ed, the chart displays a gridline for each value on the y-axis.

Show Legend (Required)

When selected, the chart displays a legend to identify chart items.

Legend Placement (Required)

Specifies the location of the legend on the chart window. Options include, Top, Bottom, Left, and Right. This is only applicable when Show Legend is selected.

Zero Align Data (Required)

When selected, the chart's x-axis and y-axis cross at 0.

General Tab

View

The chart view to which this record applies. This field links to the Views service.

Chart View Type

The type of chart displayed. This field links to the Chart View Types service.

Show Data Table (Required)

When selected, the Chart View includes the Summary Data table (accessed from the Summary Data tab).

Splitter Position

This field is not implemented for this release of Aptify.

Vertical Scaling

Specifies the scale for the y-axis. Options are 0 (Data Interval) or 1 (Percentage). This is only applicable if the chart results are tracked along the y-axis (such as with a column chart). Also, this option is not applicable for 3D chart types.

Vertical Interval

Specifies the interval for the y-axis between gridlines based on the specified scale. If Vertical Scaling is set to 0, this field specifies the number that separates the gridlines. For example, to space gridlines in intervals of 100, enter 100. If Vertical Scaling is set to 1, this field specifies a percentage that separates the gridlines. For example, if specify 10, then the y-axis will have 10 interval points where the first corresponds to 10% of the chart's maximum value, the second corresponds to 20% of the chart's maximum value, etc.

Horizontal Scaling

Specifies the scale for the x-axis. Options are 0 (Data Interval) or 1 (Percentage). This is only applicable if the chart results are tracked along the x-axis (such as with a bar chart). Also, this option is not applicable for 3D chart types.

Horizontal Interval

Specifies the interval for the x-axis between gridlines based on the specified scale. If Horizontal Scaling is set to 0, this field specifies the number that separates the gridlines. For example, to space gridlines in intervals of 100, enter 100. If Horizontal Scaling is set to 1, this field specifies a percentage that separates the gridlines. For example, if specify 10, then the x-axis will have 10 interval points where the first corresponds to 10% of the chart's maximum value, the second corresponds to 20% of the chart's maximum value, etc.

Drill Down View

Specifies the view to display when clicking an area of the chart. If not specified, Aptify uses the standard list view format to display drill down results. This field links to the Views service.

Groups Tab

This tab displays a list of sub-type records that stores information entered on the Grouping sub-tab when configuring a chart view within the View dialog.
