The Commission Base Formulas service provides an organization with a powerful method to define how it calculates commission bases. The Commission Base Formulas service contains the recipe or formula for calculating a commission base for each commissioned product sold.

Top Panel

Name (Required)

The Name field contains the name of the Commission Base Formula defined in the record.

Description

The Description field further describes and defines when to use the Commission Base Formula.

Attachments Tab

The Attachments tab lists any files relevant to the Commission Base Formula record.

Comments Tab

The Comments tab contains any comments relevant to the Commission Base Formula record.

Formula Tab

Commission Source (Required)

The Commission Source field contains a list of the business transactions available in the Commission Source service that can use this Commission Base Formula record.

Source Trigger Date (Required)

The Source Trigger Date is populated from a drop-down list containing the names of the date fields available based on the Commission Source selected. The Source Trigger Date selected here helps determine which business transaction records are included in the commission base calculation. For instance, if the shipment date trigger is selected, the formula uses the shipment date field to filter the business transactions. The SQL View field name alias must begin with a "#" to be viewed in the drop-down list.

Aggregate Functions (Required)

The aggregate functions determine how to calculate the set of records after their information has been calculated with the base formula; whether it sums the results of the calculations, averages the commissions, and so on.

• Sum: Adds the commission bases of all the records for a specific date range.
• Count: Returns the number of commission bases for a specific date range.
• Average: Returns an average of the commission bases for the specific date range.
• Minimum: Returns the minimum commission base for a specific date range.
• Maximum: Returns the maximum commission base for a specific date range.

Available Formula Fields

Expanding the commission source listed in the Available Formula Field section displays all the available fields that can be selected and used in the base formula. Click on the plus sign to expand the source object and view the available fields for that commission source. The SQL View field name alias must begin with a $ to be available for selection. When the Stored Base Formulas object is expanded, all of the existing commission base formulas with the same commission source are viewable and available to use in the new commission base formula.

Insert Number Button

If a static number is required in the formula, enter the number in the text field next to the Insert Number button. Clicking on the Insert Number button moves the static number in the text field into the formula.

Commission Base Formula

The Commission Base Formula section displays the formula as it is created. It is similar to a chalk-board where the fields, operators, static numbers, and existing base formulas are added to construct the new commission equation. The toolbar located above the commission base formula section can add fields or operators and remove or erase different parts of the formula.

• The down arrow button adds a selected Available Formula Field or Stored Base Formula to the Commission Base Formula section.
• The second through seventh buttons on the toolbar are the operator buttons. Clicking on them will insert their respective operator into the formula.
• The eraser button deletes the whole formula from the Commission Base Formula section.
• The left arrow button deletes the last item entered in the formula whether it is a static number, an operator or a formula field.
• The right arrow button is the formula syntax button that tests the formula for correct syntax.
