About the Map View Toolbars

The following discusses the options available on the MapPoint toolbars of the map view window in Aptify. Options are listed as they appear on the toolbar from left to right. Note that this section does not describe the Drawing toolbar since the drawing items added to a map view do not persist when you exit the map view.

Standard Toolbar
Option | Description |
Save | This option is not supported for Aptify map views. Aptify automatically saves the map view's MapPoint file when you exit the view. |

Page Setup | This option is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Cut | This option is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Copy | This option is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Paste | This option is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Undo Format Data Set | Use this button to undo the last change you made a data set (for example, if you changed the pushpin style). |
Redo Format Data Set | If you clicked the Undo button to undo the last change made to a data set's pushpin style, click this button to redo that change. |
Legend and Overview | Shows/hides the Legend and Overview section of the map. |
Territories | Launches the Create Territories wizard. This option is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Find Nearby Places | Use this option to find landmarks (such as museums, subway stations, and restaurants) near a particular location. |
Route Planner | Plans a route between stops on the map. Route information does not persist after exiting the map view. |
Directions | Displays the Directions pane on the map. |
Link Data Wizard | Launches the Link Data wizard. This option is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Import Data Wizard | Launches the Import Data wizard. This option is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Data Mapping Wizard | Launches the Data Mapping wizard. You can add demographic information to the map but options related to linking, importing, or modifying existing data sets is not supported for Aptify map views. |
Export to Excel | Export information about particular map items to Excel. |
Show Information | Show the information pop-up for the selected map item. |
Search the Web | Search the Web for information on the selected map item. |
Show in Windows Live Local | Display the selected map item's address information in Microsoft Live Local website in an Internet Explorer window. |
Drawing Toolbar | Shows/hides the Drawing toolbar. Items you add to the map using the drawing toolbar do not persist after exiting the map view. |
Location and Scale Toolbar | Shows/hides the location and scale toolbar that appears on the top of the map. |
Help | Opens the Microsoft MapPoint Help documentation. |
Navigation Toolbar
Option | Description |
Back | Back up to a previous map location. |
Forward | Return to a map location if you used the Back button. |
Address Find | Enter an address or place name to find it on the map. |
Zoom Out | Zoom out on the map. |
Zoom Scrollbar | Zoom in or out by dragging the scrollbar. |
Zoom In | Zoom in on the map. |
Select | Cursor uses the Select tool to select areas of the map. |
Pan | Cursor moves the map to a new location. |
Map Style | Select type of map to display. Options include Road Map, Data Map, Road and Data Map, Political Map, and Road Map (Night) |
