About the Base Fields Form

Base fields provide a method to create generic fields that can be used in any number of entities. When creating fields, these may be used to save time and effort when setting up an entity. All information contained within the Base Fields record is inherited by the Fields record when the base field is used as the default setting.

The Base Fields form contains the same fields as the entity's Fields form. Therefore, refer to Fields Form for an explanation of each field that appears on this form.

Note that if you specify an existing Base Field to use as a template for a new Base Field (by selecting this field in the Base Field drop-down list), the new Base Field will not be listed as a derived field of the original Base Field.
